Death Eaters are a group of characters from Harry Potter. They are loyal to Lord Voldemort and his primary followers.
Background[]
The Death Eaters are supporters of Lord Voldemort, following in his ideaology and served in graditude loyalty to the Dark Lord. They committed many terrible crimes in their master's name and followed his duties. They were mostly consisted of Pure-bloods and half-bloods. Muggle-borns joined as well, but that was rarely seen.
One of the most notorious Death Eaters were Bellatrix Lestrange, the person responsible for torturing Neville Longbottom's parents, and Barty Crouch, Jr. Peter Pettigrew joined them out of fear. They were created during the First Wizarding War, and in retaliation, Albus Dumbledore formed the Order of the Pheonix. However, Voldemort, then known as Tom Riddle, had been gathering supporters during his years at Hogwarts, even forming a gang that would be his first Death Eaters.A group consisting of Barty Crouch Jr, Bellatrix Lestrange, her husband Rudulphus and her brother-in-law, Rabastan, tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom, parents of Neville, to insanity. However, the rest of the Death Eaters were caught and sent to Azkaban for fourteen years. Sirius Black was suspected of being one as well.
The group was disbanded when Harry Potter ultimately defeated their master during the Battle of Hogwarts.
