David Abbott is one of the two main protagonists of the fantasy film Just Like Heaven. After the death of his wife, David seeks a fresh start by buying an apartment in lower Manhattan, only to find that the previous residence Elizabeth Masterson's spirit remains, as her body remains in a comatose state. He is the only one who can see her because he was the one she meant to meet on a blind date set up by her sister, proving they are soulmates.
He is based on Arthur from from the French novel If Only It Were True by Marc Levy.

David Abbott is a recently-widowed man who lost his wife to cancer. He buys an apartment in Manhattan three months afterwards, and encounters a spiritual embodiment of Elizabeth Masterson (who is the owner of the apartment and the person in David was going to meet the night of her accident). He ultimately moves on from his wife and finds second love in Elizabeth.
