- “That's not the way you're supposed to do it, Dad. They want us to do it this way.”
- ―Dash to Mr. Incredible
Dash Parr is a major character in the 2004 Disney•Pixar animated film, The Incredibles and its 2018 sequel. He is the middle child and eldest son of Bob and Helen Parr and is the younger brother to Violet and older brother to Jack-Jack. His main superhero power is the ability to run super fast. He is also able to run on water as a consequence of this, as well as other physics-bending manoeuvres such as running up buildings.
Background[]
Powers and Abilities[]
Super Speed: Dash inherited the superhero gene from both of his parents, giving him the special ability to run at supersonic Speed. The film series has yet to reveal his maximum running speed!; however The Incredibles video game shows his maximum speed at over 190mph (306kmh). He can run long enough that it won't tire him out; and he will probably get faster as he gets older. When he was running away from Syndrome's agents, he discovered that he could walk on water and run on horizonal surfaces
- Superhuman Agility: Combining his superhumanly fast speed, Dash has the ability to move quicker and easier. jump higher and further, have superior balance, and be more flexible than humans.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Dash's increased speed also augments his reaction time, making his reflexes much faster than those of an ordinary human. He uses this when engaging in combat or when in need of improvising.
- Super-Speed Combat Ability: Dash uses his super speed to fight his enemies in combat with his punches and kicks.
- Superhuman Endurance: Dash can physically exert himself for long periods of time without feeling fatigue.
- Enhanced Strength: Due to being the son of Mr. Incredible, Dash partially inherited his father's super strength, but only by extent. He is stronger than most of the other kids in his class. It was partially the reason why Helen didn't allow Dash to run track in fear of him hurting the other kids.
- Enhanced Durability: The first film's official website listed "enhanced durability" amongst Dash's powers, which is implied in the film by the amount of incidental high-speed collisions and crashes Dash endures without taking any apparent or long-lasting injury.
Personality[]
Sometime in between the prologue and the present day during the "fifteen years later", it is revealed that Dash is a trouble maker. He has gotten in trouble been sent to the principal's office several times, mostly by his most hated teacher Mr. Krop. He is, according to his teacher, a disruptive force in class and openly mocks him in front of the rest of the class. However by The teachers statement that the principal is letting Dash go again reflects that he has been there before. Despite his troubles making, deep down Dash wants to be like all the other kids and try out for sports or track. However, Helen won't let him because of her fear of Dash being discovered or being forced to move away again. According to her, Dash is "a very competitive boy, and a bit of a showoff" similar to his dad. Dash's reckless nature and one-track mind also gets him into trouble with his big sister, Violet. Dash annoys her frequently, even using his powers to bully her at times as another way to vent his frustration, which has somewhat strained their relationship.
Despite this, Dash is a brave young man who loves his family. Even though he teased his sister, Dash is fairly protective of her, as shown when he yelled at an agent of Syndrome to leave his sister alone as he goes to defend her. As a result of fighting for their a lies, Violet and Dash became closer as they no longer bully each other with their powers. Because of his need to be a special, he connects the most with his father, Bob who actively wants his son to play sports and be like all the other kids. Like Bob Dash is a firm believer of how powers make them special and why he rides off his mother's statement that everyone is special.
By the sequel, Dash is mostly the same; however, he has grown more mature and started taking school more seriously due to the events that the family has endeavored. It is implied he no longer picks on his teachers, but this is unknown. He also takes his duty as Jack-Jack's older brother seriously and wants to be a hero like his parents before him.
