Heroes and Villains Wiki

Daphne Blake is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Fred Jones and Velma Dinkley) in the Scooby Doo franchise. Daphne, depicted as coming from a wealthy family, is noted for her red hair, lavender heels, fashion sense, and her knack for getting into danger, hence the nickname "Danger Prone Daphne". Initially acting as the damsel in distress, Daphne has become a strong female character who is confident and very brave. Together with her friends and her dog, Scooby, they are on the case. She has appeared in more adaptations than the other characters, right behind Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo.

History[]

The character of Daphne Blake was inspired by Thalia Menninger, a sophisticated teenage character portrayed by Tuesday Weld, in the late 1950s and early 1960s American sitcom The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.

In earlier seasons, she was always clumsy and took on the role of the damsel in distress, occasionally being kidnapped, tied up, and imprisoned. She evolved into a more independent and capable investigator.

In Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness monster, it is revealed that Daphne has Scottish heritage, as her cousin Shannon manages their ancestral home of Blake Castle.

  • Daphne and all her sisters names start with a D: Daisy, Dorothy, Delilah, and Dawn.
