After falling in love with a Twi'lek, Suu Lawquane, Cut chose to remain with her and the couple had two children, Shaeeah and Jek. He met Rex, a clone trooper who was wounded in battle. Cut and Rex had a rocky relationship, mostly due to the fact Rex believed Cut to be a deserter and a coward. However, Cut tells Rex he chose to leave after the Battle of Geonosis.
Rex helped the Lawquane family fight off droids. Suu asked if Rex was going to report her husband. Though Rex stated it was his duty to uphold justice, Rex refused, as he saw that Cut was not a deserter, promising to overlook it.
