Credence Barebone (born Aurelius Dumbledore) is the secondary antagonist of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy. He is the secondary antagonist of the first film, the anti-heroic tritagonist turned anti-villain of the 2018 sequel, and the anti-hero of it's 2022 theequel. He is the long-lost son of Aberforth Dumbledore and an unnamed woman, the grandson of Percival and Kendra Dumbledore, The former lover of Nagini, and the nephew of Albus and Ariana Dumbledore. Like his aunt, Credence developed an Obscurus, a magical sickness and force of nature developed when a witch or wizard suppresses their magic.
History[]
Born in secret, Credence hidden away with his mother's sister shortly after his birth. He ended up in America after being switched with Corvus Lestrange by the latter's sister, Leta Lestrange. Due to his step-mother's cruelty and hated towards magic and being emotionally unstable, Credence became the Obscurial whose Obscurus wreaked havoc in New York City. After being promised by Gellert Grindelwald he would reveal who he truly is, Credence became a member of the Acolytes. He became especially close to Queenie Goldstein, who acted as a comforting presence to him, using her legillemency powers to comfort him and serving as the person he trusted most in Grindelwald's Army, even above the Dark Wizard himself. However, after learning the truth, Credence turned against Grindelwald and further ruined his plans for wizard world domination. Slowly succumbing to the Obscurus poisoning, Credence spend his final years being with his father.
