Colin was sorted into Gryffindor a year after Harry, Ron and Hermione. He became a member of the [[Dumbledore]'s Army], along with his younger brother, Dennis
Colin only appears in the second film. This could give the implication that his parents pulled him out of school after he was attacked by the Basilisk and didn't want him returning. This gives the possibility that Colin is still alive at least in the movie universe.
