Colin is a major protagonist of the Kung Fu Panda franchise, first appearing in The Dragon Knight.
At first he chased the Wandering Blade and tried to arrest her at the behest of the Queen of England, until he turned to the Dragon Knights and helped save the world when Sir Drake took his knighthood.
History[]
Dragon Knight[]
The Queen of England tasked Colin to apprehend Luthera for the theft of a set of armor from an armory, as well as her late brother Sir Alfred's sword.
Whilst escorting Po to the emperor, two members of the Forbidden Company were overcome and defeated by him, resulting in his successful liberation. Subsequently, he encountered both him and Luthera at a spice market located in the desert. He successfully subdued them, but just as he was reaching for them, Luthera wielded her sword to break free and assisted Po in escaping as well. As they attempted to flee, a sandstorm suddenly approached, compelling them to stop. With no alternatives available, they resolved to stand firm and confront the situation.
Just as Colin was about to deploy his rope launcher on the pair once more, Rabia, a girl from the village, intervened to rescue them, leaving Colin to endure the sandstorm. Once Po and Luthera had made their escape and Rabia was reunited with her parents, Colin approached them to inquire if they would be willing to assist him in locating an old friend.
Personality[]
Colin carries himself with a strict and no-nonsense demeanor similar to Luthera's, but he is noticeably more focused in his pursuits. His arrogance makes him believe that Luthera cannot compete with him, a mindset shaped by the harsh treatment he received from his superior, Sir Drake. Drake's abusive behavior and constant belittling have left a mark on Colin, although Luthera herself acknowledges that Colin possesses a stronger moral compass than his peers. Beneath his stern exterior, Colin harbors a gentle, poetic, and sensitive nature, as evidenced by the collection of love poems he writes about a girl he admires.
His unyielding devotion to the chivalric code seems to be rooted in an underlying sense of inadequacy, as he associates his self-worth with his standing as a knight. However, when Drake removes his title and he witnesses the extent of Drake's fixation on capturing Luthera—prioritizing his vendetta over England's safety—Colin realizes that he has been aligned with the wrong cause. He chooses to join the Dragon Knights to atone for his past actions, while also attempting to reason with Sir Drake.
After finishing their tasks in England and breaking free from Drake's control, Colin changes and becomes more friendly, approachable, and relaxed. He starts to think of the Dragon Knights as his friends and develops special feelings for Luthera. Later on, it is revealed that she is the one who inspired his love poems, showing that his interest in her was not just because of his duty, but also because he had deeper, hidden feelings for her.
