Eddie Thawne (later known as Cobalt Blue) is the tritagonist of Season 1 and one of the two main antagonists (alongside the Red Death) of Season 9 of The Flash. He is a former detective who is the second partner of Joe West and the fiance of Iris West-Allen. He is the current Avatar of the Negative Speed Force.

He is also friends with Barry Allen, despite noticing his his romantic feelings for Iris. At the end of the season, he was told he was the ancestor of time traveler Eobard Thawne, who showed him a newspaper of Iris and Barry married in the future.
