This article is about the film version of Clarisse La Rue. For her book counterpart, see Clariss La Rue.
Clarisse La Rue is one of the two tritagonists of the 2013 film adaptation of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (alongside Grover Underwood). She is the daughter of Ares who goes on the mission to find the Golden Fleece and heal Talia Grace's tree, which protects the borders of Camp Half-Blood from other invaders and monsters
In the second film, she is portrayed as the newest and latest camper in Camp Half-Blood (a major departure from the books, where Clarisse attended long before Percy did). She is initially rivals with Percy but the two manage to reach an understanding due to both of them feeling the pressure of living up to their fathers' names
She was portrayed by Leven Ramblin.
Personality[]
Clarisse is stubborn, determined and tough due to being the daughter of Ares, the god of war. Additionally, the Clarisse of the film version has been mellowed down considerably. Her characterization in the film is vastly different from her book counterpart, who is more aggressive and hot tempered. She often teases Percy and has a not-so-friendly rivalry with him.
Despite her rivalry with the son of Poseidon, they eventually come to an understanding because of their need to prove themselves to their fathers and be the best they can at camp. This carries over from the book. Clarisse also cares for the well-being of the camp, showing that she can be rather protective of her friends and her home, as she goes on the quest to save it. However, in the books, Clarisse wanted to prove herself to her father as well. She also expressed genuine concern and horror when Annabeth was poisoned by the Manticore. However, she showed relief when the Golden Fleece saved her, as well as complete shock and horror when she saw a fully restored Thalia Grace.
