Dr. Charles McNider is a major character in the television series Stargirl. He was the original Doctor Mid-Nite who was seemingly killed during the ISA's attack on the JSA headquarters by the Shade. However, Richard Swift had accidentally sent him to the Shadowlands while trying to save him, leaving McNider in the illusionary dark world. The only way he did not here his daughter's voice were his goggles and when he gave them to Courtney Whitmore to wear, she saw he was not an illusion.
When returned to the real world, he helped his successor Beth Chapel and the new incarnation of the JSA defeat Eclipso and occsionally consult with the team as a mentor when Pat Dugan was unable to do.
He is the husband of Myra McNider and the father of the late Rebecca McNider and

- Longevity: Charles had been alive since 1914, yet showed no signs of his advanced age. He appeared to be physically in his fifties despite being ninety-six years old at the time of his disappearance. His physical condition was also not affected by his age.
