“His and those of every master villain that came before me. And once I do, no one will dare underestimate me again.”
―Chameleon revealing her plans to Po
The Chameleon is the main antagonist of DreamWorks' 46th full-length animated film Kung Fu Panda 4, the fourth installment of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. She serves as Zhen's adoptive mother and archenemy, as well as Po's, being his second dangerous foe and by far the most powerful and dangerous villain that the latter has faced as a whole.
She is a mysterious sorceress who rules over Juniper City and is determined to prove her worth to those who have underestimated her. She is determined to claim the Staff of Wisdom to open the Spirit Realm and rule over the world by having her adoptive daughter Zhen.
“I too came from humble beginnings and dreamed of becoming something more. I wanted respect and power. I wanted to be a master of kung fu.”

Much like Po, the Chameleon was born to unnamed parents and came from humble beginnings, hoping to one day master the art of Kung Fu and make a significant impact on the world. However, when she entered every training hall, she was immediately rejected by most of them. Since she wouldn't let anyone else choose her paths for her, The Chameleon became a fearful sorceress but never once mastered or understood the true power of Kung Fu. Instead, she disguised herself as those who possessed its true power.
Adopting Zhen[]
At some point, she took control of Juniper City, a place that was previously plagued by crime families. These mob bosses paid tribute to her every month. One day, the orphaned fox Zhen attempted to steal from the Chameleon. However, the powerful sorceress caught her in the act. Seeing the young girl in herself, especially by her potential and fearlessness. The Chameleon took Zhen in as her apprentice and adoptive daughter. Many years later, the Chameleon heard rumors that the legendary Dragon Warrior, Po possessed the Staff of Wisdom. She assigned Zhen to steal the Staff from Po and allow the Chameleon to open a gateway into the spirit world and steal the spirits of their Kung Fu.
