Trivia[]
- In the original novel, Cassie and her family come from 1850 but in the film, they come from the twenty first century instead. At the end of the book she becomes happily married to a botanist
- Cassie's name "Cassandra" comes from Greek mythology and is possibly a reference to the seer from Greek myhtology of the same name due to Shakespearan and Greek myths present in the film.
- In Greek Myths, Cassandra was given foresight abilities by Apollo, who attempted to make her his lover. However, Cassandra refused him, causing Apollo to curse her instead. She could still see to the future but no one would ever believe her. This seems to be the case in Cassie's relationship with her sister Miranda, who skeptically doesn't believe like Cassie does and doesn't listen to her.
- Marie as a girl's name is of French origin and is a variant of the Latin for Mary, "star of the sea". This could be a reference to Cassie and her family spending the film out at sea, which requires navigating via the stars.
- She is similar to Lucy Pevensie, given they have older siblings who don't believe in magic like their younger siblings (Peter, Susan and Edmund and Miranda) and has a strong sense of belief and magic. They also travel to magical realms (the realm of fairytales, Narnia), strongest believers in their families and have magical items to aid them in her quests given to them by magical sorcerers (a compass that points Cassie to her family, given to her by Queen Titania and Lucy received a magical remedy that will cure any illness or wound given to her by Santa Clause)
