Caroline Elizabeth Forbes-Salvatore (née Forbes) is one of the main characters from the television series, The Vampire Diaries and a minor character in The Originals.

She was one of the best friends turned sister-in-law of Elena Gilbert, one of the best friends of Bonnie Bennett and Matt Donovan, the wife of the late Stefan Salvatore and the sister-in-law of Damon Salvatore.

She is also the surrogate mother of Josie Saltzman and Lizzie Saltzman.

Caroline was turned into a vampire by her soulmate and best friend, Damon Salvatore with the transition initiated by Katherine Pierce.
