Callisto was a Moonshadow Elf assassin from the Silvergrove. He, along with five other assassins (including Runaan and Rayla) were sent on Zubeia's mission to assassinate King Harrow and his son Prince Ezran, a mission that turned deadly after the King was killed.
History[]
Early life[]
Callisto, Andromeda, Skor, and Ram were Moonshadow Elf residents of the Silvergrove, where they underwent a long training to become skilled assassins.
Return of the Bloodmoon Huntress[]
Callisto, Andromeda, Skor, and Ram are training under the tutelage of Runaan before the night of the Harvest Moon. Andromeda tries to activate her [[Moonshadow Elves#Abilities |Moonshadow Form]] with no success, allowing Runaan to explain that Moonshadow Forms are difficult but can be mastered once an assassin understands the balance of life and death. However, the training is cut short when an eavesdropping Rayla gives her hiding spot away.
The next day, Rayla is allowed to watch Runaan sparring with each of the four elves.
On the night of the Harvest Moon, Callisto, Andromeda, Skor, and Ram are preparing to patrol alongside Runaan when Ethari's Wingaling alerts them that Rayla is in danger.
Revenge[]
Not long after Viren and King Harrow of Katolis killed the Dragon King, Avizandum, and supposedly destroyed his unhatched egg, the Dragon Queen, Zubeia, tasked the four assassins to kill King Harrow and his son Prince Ezran in retaliation along with Rayla and Runaan.
The four assassins accepted the task and Ethari crafted a metal lotus for each of them that would signify their fates.
The four assassins accompany Runaan and Rayla to the kingdom of Katolis, where they set up camp in the forest and prepare for the mission, until it is time for the attack. Each of them bind themselves with an indestructible binding, which is a promise to fulfill their mission of avenging Avizandum and his unhatched egg by killing King Harrow and his son Prince Ezran. However, their presence is exposed due to Rayla's incapability to kill Marcos, a soldier who informed his king of the incoming attack.[1]
Callisto watches the castle together with Runaan, while Skor and Andromeda refuse to acknowledge Rayla inside their camp grounds. They continue to shun Rayla, due to her inability to kill Marcos, and leave without her after Runaan decides to leave her behind[2].
After drawing power from the full moon, all four assassins enter their Moonshadow Forms and scale the castle tower leading to King Harrow's chambers, where they battle the Crownguard. All four of them give their lives during battle, but allow Runaan to slay Harrow with their sacrifice.[3]. As a result the metal lotuses they left in the pond sink, notifying Ethari and the other elves that the assassins were killed. However, only Rayla's metal lotus still floats, causing her to become an outcast. [4]
Legacy[]
Book 3: Sun[]
A couple of weeks later, Viren (under guidance from Aaravos) summoned the Assassins' spirits and sent them to assassin the other monarchs of the Five Kingdoms as part of his plan to wage war on Xadia.
Through the Moon[]
Callisto's spirit was able to "move on" to the afterlife when he believed Rayla successfully completed her mission in assassinating Ezra since they didn't see her bindings on her wrists.
Book 7: Dark[]
Two years after Rayla was ghosted, Callisto and the assassins' Spirits were summoned by the Keeper during Rayla's ritual to be unghosted (revoking her banishment). As Rayla repented her mistakes, Callisto forgave her. However, the Keeper turned out to be Ram's father and he initially refused to forgive her because he believed Ram's blood was still on Rayla's hands. However, after Rayla reasoned with the Keeper, he forgave her and allowed Rayla back into the Silvergrove.
