Karen Elena Beecher (also known as Bumblebee) is one of the titular main protagonists (alongside Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Zatanna, Supergirl and Jessica Cruz) of the 2019 Cartoon Network Reboot series DC Super Hero Girls. She is a member of the Super Hero Girls and a student at Metropolis High School.
She was voiced by Kimberly Brooks.
Background[]
Personality[]
Karen can be very shy and nervous. She is also awkward and clumsy as shown in her first scene in Sweet Justice where she tripped when walking off the bus. Not to mention the fact she often stumbles and mess up her words around. When she has to she is brave, heroic, and will never try, but will to save the day. Even though she is shy, that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to put bad guys in their place. Despite her shyness, she can be a little aggressive when she's pushed too far. She is also a fan of romance, showing excitement should someone be.
The role that she has in the team of heroines is to be the voice of reason. This has been shown on more than one occasion by motivating her friends; like when she taught Supergirl how to be a hero, Wonder Woman that it's okay not to be perfect, and when she gave her teammates the motivation to come together again with a speech.
Appearance[]
Karen is a short, skinny, light brown-skinned teenage black girl with sage-green eyes, maroon-brown lips and long, curly dark brown hair with honey-blonde highlights, usually kept into pigtail buns.
As a civilian, Karen wears a large, light yellow and dark brown striped turtleneck sweater; the pattern resembling that of a bumblebee. She also dons a short yellow skirt over dark brown tights, and large beige-brown boots with off-white fluffy cuffs.
As Bumblebee, she wears a custom-made armor to resemble a bumblebee, complete with sky-blue wings attached to it, allowing her to have the ability to fly. She also wears a matching helmet with black antennas attached to it, as well a green visor.

Season 1[]
Karen Beecher is an A+ student at Metropolis High School. In "Sweet Justice", when she was about to walk off the school bus, she tripped and dropped all her equipment which led to her meeting Barbara Gordon, who helped her gather all her equipment. Trivia[]
- Bumblebee's eye design is very similar to Fluttershy's from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, one of Faust's most notable works.
- Her main enemy is Giganta, although she can choose an enemy too.
- She loves romance as seen in "The Bird and the Bee".
- However, she hates the Diana and Steve's relationship. This is mostly likely because Diana is always distracted by Steve's presence whenever he is around and loses concentration on other things.
- She holds the most numerous times in which her transformation sequence is shown as showcased in Season 1.
- She is the shortest in the group.
- She is 14 years old, as revealed in both "League Of Shadows" and "Crash Course".
- She is currently the only member of the team to not have her parents physically appear in the show.
- Bumblebee along with Aqualad and Poison Ivy are the youngest of their groups.
- Bumblebee and Wonder Woman are so far the only members of the Super Hero Girls who knows of Bruce Wayne's identity as Batman.
- The yellow stripe in her hair is a parallel to her first generation counterpart.
- She loves tacos, but she doesn't like burritos. Ironically, both are Mexican food dishes.
- In most of the episodes she appears in she is offering her help to some of the girls, mainly to Zatanna and Supergirl.
- Bumblebee is the third member of the Super Hero Girls who motivated another character to be a hero.
- She first did Wonder Woman with Katana when protecting an innocent.
- Later Supergirl did it by saving Ted Kord resulting in him becoming Blue Beetle.
- And third, with the speech she gave to her team, she motivated Harley Quinn to do the right thing.
- She is similar to Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, another work by Lauren Faust. Also, most of the cartoon's main characters resemble the main characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in terms of personality.
- She's also similar to Skara from Disney's The Owl House. Ironically, both characters were voiced by their same voice actress.
- Previously, in the Brazilian version, she was voiced by Ana Lucia Menezes, but due to her death in 2021, currently Bumblebee was voiced by Bia Menezes, who voiced her in the episodes of season two, some episodes of Teen Titans Go, and Cartoon Network's Teen Titans Go and DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in Multiverse.
