I cannot possibly betray the confidentiality of my buyers!
―The Broker to Yondu Udonta

The Broker is a minor character in Guardians of the Galaxy. He was a merchant of Xandarian culture interested in buying the orb containing the Power Stone from Yondu Udonta and Star-Lord for the Collector.

Guardians of the Galaxy[]

Making a deal with the Collector, the Broker hired Ravagers led by Yondu Udonta to retrieve an orb containing the Infinity Stone on Morag, which Yondu's former associate Peter Will/Star-Lord stole. The Broker was surprised to see Quill instead of Yondu, but Peter made it clear that Udonta sent him. In reality, Quill hoped to sell the orb for himself, as he was planning on leaving the Ravagers. The Broker refused to reveal who his buyer was or what contents were within the orb. However, as soon as Quill mentioned he nearly died getting it from a minion of Ronan the Accuser, the broker refused to sell the orb because he was aware that Ronan would not stop until his culture (Xandarian) ceased to exist and kicked Quill out.

Following Quill's betrayal, Yondu Udonta and his First Mate confronted the broker to learn about the orb and who else was interested in buying it. When the broker refused, Yondu intimidated him with the Yaka Arrow, causing the broker to reveal his deal with Taneleer Than, the Collector on knowhere.

During the Battle of Xandar, the broker survived the attack by Ronan, and he and his people were saved due to the combined forces of Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Drax the Destroyer.

Trivia[]

  • In the comics, the Broker was a slaver who used parasites to trap other individuals to his Bodyguard Cadre. He was later killed by Century.
  • Scrote and the Broker have very similar facial features, hinting that these characters may be related as being from the same race.
