Brego is Aragorn's mount and a minor character in The Lord of the Rings.
History[]
Brego never appeared in thebooks, but he is named after a king of Rohan. In the films, he was a horse owned by Théodred. According to Aragorn, the horse has seen more battle more than any of the other horses and the horse had been distressed when its owner was killed and refused to accept any other rider. However, he made an exception to Aragorn, who was the only one to calm Brego down.
He tells Éowyn that the horse should be set free because of the battles he had seen. Brego returns to Aragorn and helps him get back to Helm's Deep. He was later Aragorn's steed through the path of the Dead, where the horse was frightened.
