The Bog King (mostly referred to as Bog) is the secondary-antagonist turned deuteragonist of Lucasfilm's 2015 film Strange Magic. He was the cold-hearted ruler of the Dark Forest and ends up falling in love with the film's protagonist, Marianne.

Personality[]

As the King of the Dark Forest, Bog King is an anti-hero. The Bog King personally leads the raid into the Fairy Kingdom and doesn't want anyone coming to the dark forest borders in fear that someone will take a poppy and brew it into a love potion, something he did in the past. He also seeks out his own intel because his mushrooms suffer spreading gossip. He also known for his fiery temper.

Ever since the woman he fell for spurned his advances, the Bog King has developed a militant cynicism of love, believing that it was because he was too ugly to be loved.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Intimidation
  • Tactician/Leader:: Despite being feared by his subjects the Bog King is well respected by his people, including his guards. He knows them each by name and even relieves his guards when they feel uncomfortable being around Princess Dawn.
  • Fighting: Bog picked up a thing or two when it comes from hand-to-hand combat. He and Marianne are so skilled that they're evenly matched during their fight during Straight On and reach a stalemate
  • Singing: While his singing is mostly reserved for rock-'n'-roll, Bog's voice can be adjusted to slower songs, such as "Strange Magic"
