Beorn is a Tolkien character who appears as one of the supporting characters of the 1937 novel, The Hobbit, and a minor character in ,The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Give Armies.

The  Desolation of Smaug[]

Like in the book, Beorn aides Thorin Oakenshield, Bilbo Baggins, and the company in their quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from Smaug. He provides them with a bed for the night, breakfast, and with horses, food and other provisions. He converses with Gandalf about Azog the Defiler. Beorn suspects that he will not stop hunting down the dwarves until they are dead and that there is something haunting about the High Fells and that the dead walk there. He warns Gandalf to tell him if there is such evil coming.

The Battle of the Five Armies[]

Beorn appears at the end of the film on the back of an eagle and shapeshifts into a bear, disposing of Azog's army . He later appears to pay his respects to Thorin, Fíli, and Kíli at their burial.

Trivia[]

  •  . He was also prejudice to dwarves like Thorin was to Bilbo when they first met.
