Benjy Fleming is Sharona's son. He appears as a recurring character in the first two seasons and Season 3A and also appears in the book Mr Monk and the Two Assistants. He is the ten later twelve year old son of Sharona Fleming who likes Adrian Monk and accepts him as a father figure despite his eccentricity.
For most of the series, he was portrayed by Kane Ritchotte and the by Max Murrow in most of Season 1 except for the first episode.

Season 3[]
Benjy and Sharona move back to New Jersey after Sharona and Trevor, ex-husband remarry. However in the time between "Mr Monk takes his medicine" and Mr Monk and Sharona it is revealed that Benji is now a teenager and both his parents divorced each other yet again but this time for good.
Mr. Monk's Last Case[]
By the events of the sequel film, Benji had been married or is in a relationship with another woman, having a child with her. Unfortunately Benjy would have to miss the wedding of Monk's stepdaughter, Molly Evans because he and Sharona were taking care of the baby.

- In the 1st episode, Benjy appears to be having a punk, spiked style hair and a more rebellious attitude; but by later episodes moved past this age was given a nicer personality instead.
- When his father wasn't around, Benjy considered Adrian to be a fatherly figure despite his eccentricity.
- Julie Teeger, Natalie Teeger's daughter plays much the same role that Benjy did after Sharona left California - to it, that of a surrogate child to Monk.
- Ironically the two would meet in the novel Mr. Monk and the Two Assistants, where they bonded due to their similar age and having no father figure. However, with Sharona's reappearance in Season 8, the books' canon status is disregarded.
- In Season 2, Benjy played the little league's baseball and his team was called the Cyclones. He played against Stottlemeyer's son Jared and despite their parents being close friends, don't interact on the show.
- Sharona had Benjy quite young at age 18, given that she was 19 or 20 when she took the scandalous pictures in Atlantic City. Since she was desperate for money, Sharona was likely divorced from Trevor and married him young as well.
- As of Season 2, Benjy is twelve years old. He is 18 as of Season 8 and Mr. Monk's Last Case, which takes place in 2021, Benjy he is likely 31.
- Of the main characters, Benjy interacted with Monk the most, having occasionally interacted with Randy in "Mr. Monk and the Unusual Suspect," and Stottlemeyer in "Mr. Monk Goes to a Ball Game.
