Barbara Gordon, formerly known as Batgirl and currently known as Oracle, is a fictional character in the Young Justice animated series. She is the best friend and later, girlfriend of Dick Grayson, the daughter of Police Commissioner James Gordon of Gotham City. She was the first Batgirl but was accidentally paralyzed by Cassandra Wu-San. Despite being wheel-chair bound, Barbara becomes Oracle, as a tech support for the team and becoming Cass's mentor, best friend and inspiration to becoming Orphan.
History
Barbara Gordon was born and raised in Gotham City by her father, Jim Gordon and attended Gotham Academy. Her father was the Police Commissioner of the city's police department. As a teenager, she became a young vigilante and would become associated with the likes of Batman. Growing up, Barbara became best friends with Bruce's foster son, Dick Grayson. During her vigilante career Barbara was af former sidekick and protégé of Bruce Wayne. She operated under the name Batgirl, before being paralyzed by Cassandra Wu-San on accident during her own mission to apprehend the Joker from a sword injury. After being cared for by Dick and Bruce, Barbara Gordon became the superheroine Oracle.
