Bait is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Soren) of the TV series The Dragon Prince.
He is a glow toad previously owned by Harrow and later, Ezran as well as one of his two best friends, along with Azymondias. He is also considered an honorary companion to Callum, showing Ezran's brother the same courtesy and companionship he does to extend.

Ezran and Bait react to Callum and Rayla's relationship.
Bait is usually grumpy, easily irritated, and sour. Despite this, Bait is a softie at heart, and he enjoys Barius' jelly filled tarts and having his belly tickled. He would, on occasion, smile, glow and wag his tail to indicate signs of happiness. Bait is also a loyal friend, often helping Ezran, Callum and Rayla. He also stole the rest of Rayla's moonberry juice, either because he was thirsty or he did it to agitate her. He also doesn't trust easily until they prove their loyalty, as he was initially hostile to Rayla because she tried to kill Ezran and Callum. He was initially flattered by Soren but Bait got easily irritated with him. Bait was also mistrustful of Rayla's pet monkey, Stella, and they hissed at each other. Now, they often.
However, Bait you could be somewhat envious of others who get close to Ezran, as seen during his relationship with Azymondias. However, he would eventually grow out of this jealousy and Bait would comfort Zym when he was worried about his mother. Despite his grumpiness and near jealousy, Bait would gently smile , such as being in the company of the three baby Glow Toads, or grumble half-heartedly when he was needed. Baitwill help his friends, as seen when he helped Rayla escape from Viren's ice prison. He was also surprised to learn that Callum and Rayla were dating and stayed in absolute shock. He also enjoys Ezran's company and those he is close to.
According to Callum, Bait is extremely patient and only lashes out if he is provoked. He could also be capable of thing empathetic and understanding, as seen when he comforted Callum and Zym as they were both involved in a conflict that involved their parents.

Ezran[]
Ezran is Bait's best friend. They would often play together, steal the baker's jelly filled tarts and sleep together in the same room. In "Echoes of Thunder," when Callum yelled at Ezran for not taking the threat against their fathers life seriously, Bait glared at him for making Ezran cry. During season 1, Ezran grew frustrated with Rayla when she started insulting Bait and calling him names. Ezran was also quick to defend him when Rayla accused him of drinking the rest of her moonberry juice until Bait belched and caused an avalanche.
After Azymondias's birth, Bait grew jealous of his and Ezran's growing friendship. He would make discouraging sounds and comments that would make the dragon uncomfortable much to Ezran's frustration. Feeling neglected and abandoned, Bait started hanging around Callum more. However, this jealousy eventually faded and Bait and Ezran reconciled off-screen. He later joined his best friend's return to Katolis, where Ezran lasted for one week before he was arrested. Tearful of what could happen, Ezran left Bait with the Baker, Barius, feeling he could take better care of Bait if something bad happened to him. While his friend was imprisoned, Bait visits Ezran and was there when Soren broke them out and help them escape. The Duo later returned to Team Zym just as they were about to travel up the mountain and into the Storm Spire. There, they learned that Callum and Rayla were now in a romantic relationship with each other, much to the boy and toad's shock.
During Ezran's reign, Bait switched in between Ezran and Callum.
Callum[]
As Ezran's older brother and Harrow's stepson, Bait has a good relationship with Callum, despite the latter being grumpy most of the time. Though his dad's letter, Callum was one of the two people who knew Bait enjoyed having his belly rubbed. As the trio decided their plan to return the egg to his mother, Bait was angry that Callum didn't count him in until the teenager added that it was up to the four of them. In Season 2, when Ezran started playing with Azymondias more than him during the group's journey, Bait joined Callum below deck. Although the young prince initially rejected Bait's company, Callum apologized and welcomed him. While Callum was having trouble opening up his stepfather's last letter to him, Bait encouraged his friend to open it. He was also concerned for Callum after the boy used dark magic to save Rayla and a downed dragon.
After Ezran learned about their fathers death, he told Callum that he had to return and take his place as King. This is when Rayla and Callum bid Ezran and Bait, goodbye; however, they were reunited a few days later. Like Ezran, Bait was surprised to see Callum and Rayla had begun a romantic relationship while the two were away. The prince had been forced to tell Ezran and Bait after they saw them kissing after Callum cast the spell. Due to Ezran's more kingly duties, Bait and Callum kept each other company in Viren's old office.
Rayla[]
Though they didn't get along at first, Bait started liking Rayla
Bait and Rayla initially didn't get along due to the latter trying to previously kill Ezran and Callum. She would also insult the little creature, but Rayla ended up saving his life from a sea leviathan monster. Though this helped their relationship improve, Rayla grew irritated with Bait when he drank all of her moonberry juice and his belching caused an avalanche.
After Ezran learned about their fathers death, he told Callum that he had to return and take his place as King. This is when Rayla and Callum bid Ezran and Bait, goodbye. By Season 3, Bait has come to trust Rayla and tolerated the young elf, showing that they recovered a friendship in the short time they knew each other. He was also surprised to learn Rayla and Callum were in a romantic relationship after Bait and Ezran saw them kissing. During the Battle of the storm spire, Bait helped Rayla escape from the ice casing that Viren trapped her in by bringing her fire. Rayla called Bait "her hero," which made him happy.
In between the two years Rayla was away, Bait missed her. When are returned, Bait was more warm and welcome to her more than Callum was. However, this changed by the time their journey to Rex Igneous. On the team's mission to travel to the lost Elven city of Lux Aurea, Callum, Bait and Stella gave Rayla "puppy dog eyes" when they wanted to rest at an inn they were coming across. It convinced her that they needed to eat before Rayla called them "big softies."
Soren[]
Bait initially liked Soren, as he was seen smiling a little and wagging his tail in Season 2 when Claudia and Soren caught up with Team Zym. However, he immediately scowled at Soren, noticing that there was something not right about Viren's children. This was proven correct when Rayla and her friends created an illusion of themselves to test and see if they would betray them. However, Bait changed his opinion of Soren after he helped Ezran and Bait escape from the dungeon. During the war Council in the season 3 finale, Soren held Bait, who allowed him to do so despite the glow toad's annoyance. However, Bait rarely let anyone hold him unless it was Ezran, Callum or anyone he trusted.
When the group found the fault and Startouched Elf, Aaravos' prison, Soren and Bait stayed with each other on the rowboat.
King Harrow[]
Bait was first owned by King Harrow prior to his birth before he was given to Ezran. The king has saved him from becoming the "bait" for the sailors' fishing boats and that is where he got his name. Harrow was also the only person who knew that Bait enjoyed belly rubs even when he was being a grump. After passing him onto Ezran, Harrow would occasionally play hide and seek with Bait and Ezran. During one game, Harrow would pretend not to notice that Bait was on his head and had developed a rather terrible at playing it. Despite it not being reflected as much as Ezran and Callum, Bait was saddened by Harrow's death and he understood that the king was gone. He also encouraged Callum to read his last letter and supported him.
Stella[]
Bait and Stella were initially hostile towards each other, presumably due to Rayla and Callum's rather intense reunion. Despite their rough start, Stella and Bait became good friends and often cuddled with each other. However, like Rayla, Bait got along with Stella desire the small time knowing each other.
Azymondias[]
When Azymondias was born, Bait licked his eyes open when he was struggling. The toad was also the first face Zym had ever seen.
After the Dragon Prince's birth, Bait grew jealous of his and Ezran's growing friendship as the boy King tried teaching the young dragon to fly. He would make discouraging sounds and comments that would make the dragon uncomfortable much to Ezran's frustration. However, Zym and Bait became good friends during the journey to the storm spire. When they were there, Bait comforted Zym when he feared that Zubeia wouldn't live long enough to see her son and helped Rayla save him from Lord Viren.
