Bain was dedicated towards his family, remaining undyingly loyal to his father choosing to risk his life to aid Bard by giving him the Black Arrow to face Smaug over escaping the town, and protecting his sisters from orcs or during the Battle of the Five Armies. Because Bain and his family were being spied on by the Master of Lake-town's men, Bain learned to keep a low profile to not raise any suspicions on their enemies' parts.
He obeys his father's orders, even when he did not agree with them; as he hesitated to run when Bard told him to hide the Black Arrow and return home, but eventually conceded.
Like his siblings, Bain was welcoming towards the dwarves, and helping an injured Kili recover in their home. Long after the battle, Bain ruled Dale with wisdom and keeping his father's legacy alive, maintaining peace with both Erebor and Mirkwood.
