Princess Aurora is a recurring series in the 2011 ABC book series, Once Upon a Time. She debuts in the first episode of the second season, "Broken" and last appears in the series finale, "Leaving Storybrooke." She is the daughter of the late King Stefan and Queen Briar Rose, the wife and true love of Prince Philip, the mother of Phillip Jr., and the ruling princess of her kingdom.
As a young woman, Aurora was cursed by Maleficent with the same sleeping curse inflicted on her mother and separated from her true love. As a result of being under Cora's protective bubble, Aurora was one of the inhabitants who was not sent with the Evil Queen's curse. Upon losing Phillip, Aurora and Mulan aided Emma Swan and Snow White return home and later, aided Neal Cassidy in his quest to return home. She was also reluctantly a spy for Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West, and temporarily, a flying monkey before being transformed back upon Zelena's defeat and ultimately staying in Storybrooke.
Aurora is based on the titular character from the fairytale, "Sleeping Beauty", and the titular character's daughter Aurore from Charles Perrault's version of the fairytale. She is also based on the character of the same name from the Disney film, Sleeping Beauty.
She is portrayed by Sarah Bolger.

Aurora was born to King Stefan and Queen Briar Rose. It is revealed she is the "Second Sleeping Beauty," as her mother was cursed by Maleficent, who was motivated by Regina Mills, the Once Upon a Time's version of the Evil Queen to never give up. Aurora's true love, Philip. was turned into a Yogai.

Due to being the product of a true line between Gwen Stefan and Queen Briar Rose, Aurora is filled with kindness and beauty. However, she also considers herself to be a terrible liar as well as an optimist who believes in true love. Despite being engaged to Philip through an arranged marriage, the two fell into a love that would be pure and true. When when threatened by The Wicked Witch Maleficent, Aurora remained assertive that his true love would ultimately defeat her like her parents' love before her. However, this could be mistaken for arrogance, but it showed that Aurora wasn't afraid to take a stand against pain no matter how powerful. Upon being awoken from her sleeping curse from Phillip's True love's kiss, Aurora was happy reunited with her fiancee, proving her claims to Maleficent were true. After losing Philip to the soul-sucking demon known as the Wraith, Aurora was heartbroken, distraught, and mournful. She initially thoughts vengeance against Snow White and Emma Swan, blaming them as the ones responsible for Philip's death. Also, unlike Mulan who thought rationally, Aurora, on the other hand, mistrusts Lancelot, despite Philip having faith in him.
However, she mixed justice with vengeance when she attacked Snow and put a knife to her throat until the older woman outmaneuvered her. However, Aurora changed her opinion about them after Emma offered her her leather jacket when Aurora was growing cold. She was also against the idea of telling everyone at the Safe Haven that Cora was secretly Lancelot, believing they were going to tell a lie. However, Snow reasoned it would not be a lie because they would tell everyone the truth that Lancelot died a noble hero. Since then, Aurora learned to with with the heroes and decided to help them return home, hoping it would help channel her anger. With both of her parents and true love deceased, Aurora was more motivated to help Mary Margaret and Emma return to Storybrooke because they have a family back home. After
Sometime later, Aurora went through terrible side effects as a result of the Sleeping Curse. Despite being terrified of the burning room and the netherworld, Aurora eventually learns to control her time there because Snow helping her. Despite Mulan's protests, Aurora wanted to help their friends because it gave her a purpose. She even risked journeying into the world again and attempting to make contact with Henry. even if she was willing to be severely burned in the burning room.
Even as a captive of Cora, Aurora remained defiant to her captors. The witch even attempted to appeal to Aurora's love for Philip in order to get information about Emma and Mary Margaret's plans to return home. Even though Aurora was deep down, relieved to hear there was a way to recover Phillip's soul, she still refused. As such, Captain Hook stole her heart with his hook and handed it to Cora, who could control the princess herself. The thought of betraying her friends made Aurora feel extreme guilt and remorse for what she had done. However, when trapping herself, Mulan, Emma, and Mary Margaret in Rumpelstiltskin's old cell, her friends assured Aurora that none of it was her fault. Afraid that Cora could still control her, Aurora told Mulan to tie her up when they went after Cora. After her heart was restored by Mulan, the two women worked together to restore Phillip's soul into his body.
By her next appearance, Aurora decides to help Neal when he comes to the Enchanted Forest after being shot by his ex-fiancé. She was extremely saddened to hear that Mulan was leaving to join the Merry Men, completely unaware that Mulan had fallen in love with her. Unfortunately, Aurora finds under the thrall of another witch, this time Regina's sister Zelena. She betrayed Snow and Charming to the witch, mostly because Zelena had threatened her and Phillip's unborn baby. However, Aurora found that she could no longer betray Snow and Charming, and she confessed that Zelena wanted their child.
When coming into Storybrooke for the first time, Aurora finds trouble adapting to the modern world, even refusing to turn on the TV in her and Phillip's room at Granny's Bed and Breakfast and calling it a devil box. However, she does occasionally go to Mommy and me with her son Philip Jr. She also shares a friendship and bond with the other mothers from "Mommy and Me," especially with Ella and Mary Margaret.
