Athena is an unseen antagonist in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series. She is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war and battle strategy and Annabeth Chase's mother.
History[]
Background[]
In the past, Athena was born from her father Zeus' thoughts. Since then, all of Athena's offspring are both this way when she merges thoughts with her lover.
In the past, Athena cursed her priestess, Medusa by turning her into a Gorgon after Poseidon had accosted the young woman in her temple.
Over the years, Athena became a rival with Poseidon due to them both wanting to be the patron god of Athens. However, people liked Athena's gift more, an olive tree. She also rarely got along with Ares, who resented his sister for being a "know it all."
Sometime before the series, Athena gifted Annabeth with a cap that would allow her to turn invisible. Over the years, Annabeth became Athena's favorite daughter.
Season One[]
=I Plunge to my Death[]
The action due to Annabeth's impertinent for not stopping Percy for mailing Medusa's head to Mount Olympus, had embarrassed Athena. As such, she did not offer her daughter or her friend sanctuary in her temple when they were being pursued by Echidna, putting a strain on Annabeth's relationship with her mother. The Echidna mentions via telepathy to Annabeth that she shunned her mother and it heavily implies that Athena was the one who sent the Echidna after Percy, Grover, and her daughter.
