Archibald Amundsen Witwicky is a minor character in the 2007 film Transformers. He is the great-great-grandfather of the film's human protagonist Sam Witwicky. Sam owns his grandfather's glasses which coordinates hold the AllSpark's location in Hoover Dam.
Role in the film[]
Archibald Witwicky was a world-famous explorer who led an expedition to the Arctic Circle in 1897. However, as the ice beneath him cracked, Archibald fell through the ice that led him to finding an "ice man." He accidentally started up Megatron's navigation system, and the blast of light energy that came from it blinded Archibald and the AllSpark's coordinates were left imprinted on his glasses. He spent the rest of his life in a psychiatric ward, drawing symbols on the wall.
However Archibald left behind a legacy, having a son, one grandson, six great grandchildren and two great grandsons

- He is similar to Elya Yelnats from the Disney films Holes. They are both the great-great grandfathers of Shia LeBouf's character (Sam Witwicky and Stanley Yelnats III) and the catalyst for the events of the film. (Archibald Witwicky discovered Megatron and his glasses were crucial for the Autobots to finding the AllSpark. In a similar matter, Elya had forgotten to take Madame Zeroni up the mountain and sequentially got his family cursed.)
