The Arathim are spider like creatures native to Thra and appear in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

At least three subspecies of Arathim were known: Silk Spitters, Poison Spitters, and Threaders.
During and after the battle, SkekTek created the first Garthim using Arathim and Gruenak corpses.

- The way that the Arathim speak as they join together when negotiating with SkekSo or protagonists Rian and Deet about their respective alliance is very similar to how the helping hands from spoke together when they interact with the film's protagonist Sarah in the film. Labyrinth, another Jim Henson Company production,
- They are a subversion of gigantic spiders such as the Acromantulas from Harry Potter and the Great Spiders from The Lord of the Rings, who were evil, the Arathim are good. They are initially an example of evil spiders until their alliance with the Gelfling.
- The Arathim are gigantic arachnids that are similar to Shelob from The Lord of the Rings and Aragog from Harry Potter. The difference is that while Aragog and Arathim are heroes, Shelob was a villain and female.
- Unlike real-life arachnids, the Arathim have six legs instead of eight.
