Biography[]
Season 4[]
Angela is a popular student at Lenora Hills High School, with a group of friends and a boyfriend named Jake. In 1986, two new students from Hawkins, California arrived at Lenora Hills: Jane "Eleven" Hopper and her brother, Will Byers. After Eleven's arrival, Angela and her gang began to make her life miserable, taking advantage of her shy nature.
Angela appears in a history project giving an oral presentation to class about Helen Keller, whom she describes as her heroine, to the applause of the class. When it is Eleven's turn, she attempts to make a diorama of her father, Jim Hopper, but fails to say the word "diorama", causing the taunts of the class (including Angela and her friends). An embarrassed Eleven tries to continue her speech about her father until Angela takes advantage of the situation and intentionally interrupts her. She questions that Eleven isn't talking about a famous person (since the working guidelines stated that the project had to be about a famous figure). Eleven, on the verge of tears, says that her father is a hero because he died saving lives in a mall. Realizing Eleven's mournful and saddened personality, Angela sarcastically takes back her words. Despite that, the teacher allows Eleven to present her project, but she is very hurt to do it, as what Angela said made her feel bad.
Later, on the school campus, Angela trips Eleven down, causing her project to break. While making fun of her, Angela, her boyfriend, and the rest of the group destroy her project, Enraged, Eleven tries to use her powers against Angela, only to realize that nothing has happened. Angela's friends what that was supposed to be, and Angela and her friends, along with the rest of the students, laugh at Eleven. Then, Mrs. Gracie appears in the crowd and asks Eleven what happened to her project. Although Eleven says it was just an accident the teacher realizes the truth when she sees Angela avoiding making eye contact. Angela is sent to principal's office by the teacher for what she had done, and even she is quite shocked about it as she insists that she didn't do anything wrong.
A few of days later, Angela, her boyfriend Jake, and their friends go to Rink-O-Mania, where they find Eleven skating with a boy they don't recognize, who turns out to be El's boyfriend Mike. Wanting to take revenge on Eleven for being a "snitch" and get her in trouble with the teacher Gracie, Angela formulates a plan. While Eleven and Mike are drinking milkshakes, Eleven is approached by Angela and her group, who sheepishly introduces Mike to Angela, and she lies to Mike that Angela is her friend, and Mike believes it. Angela, taking advantage of that, invites Eleven to skate with them, who hadn't finished her meal yet. Angela takes Eleven to the skating rink, which is witnessed by Will, who sees Angela's friends recording everything with a camera. Later, Angela and her friends start bullying Eleven as they spout a song called "the local snitch" to make fun of her. Eleven began to get overwhelmed as Angela and her gang skated around her between insults, with one of the teens filming Eleven's humiliation and Jake spilling milkshake all over her dress, causing her to fall backwards, earning jeers from the crowd, as Angela mocked her. This made Eleven cry, and she skated away alone.
Saddened, Eleven is alone in the storage room as she listens to Angela and her friends teasing her about the video, they made humiliating her. Her anguish turns to anger as she goes to confront Angela for ruining her day, but Angela cares little to nothing, and despite Eleven's demands for her to apologize to her and tell Mike it was all a joke, Angela mockingly tells Eleven that she won't be able to cry for a teacher today and insults Hopper’s presumed death before walking away with her gang. Now enraged, Eleven grabs a roller skate from a boy, follows Angela and calls out to her from behind; when she turns around, Eleven hits her in the face with her skate foot. Angela screams in pain as she falls to the ground, and when her horrified friends go to check on her, they discover that she had a large cut on her nose, signifying it is broken. Eleven immediately feels remorseful for what she just did; the crowd watches the incident and even Will and Mike are shocked (with a dismayed Mike asking Eleven what she has done), while Angela continues to cry loudly in distress and pain. Then, the paramedics arrive, asking Angela about her memories of her and how she felt.
Presumably after, Angela was taken to the hospital. Eleven was later arrested by police for assaulting Angela, who had suffered a second-degree concussion from the incident. Eleven was going to be taken to a juvenile detention center, but it did not happen because Sam Owens and his group of agents stopped the van. While talking to Owens, Eleven was hoping to find out if her altercation with Angela would have problems, but Sam stated that he would have the charges against her dropped.
Personality[]
Angela is sadistic, deceitful, rude, boastful, and overall, sadistic, cruel and mean-spirited. She has no problem bullying Eleven just for doing anything, and she goes anything to humiliate and bully her at every opportunity. She cannot comprehend why she was sent to the principal's office after destroying El's project, while showing she takes no responsibility for her actions. This does show she had no morals whatsoever.
Angela also came across as quite illogical, calling Eleven a "snitch" even though she herself was caught in the act. She lacks sympathy, pushing to treacherous boundaries regardless of people's feelings. To validate this, Angela mocked Eleven over the apparent death of her stepfather, Jim Hopper. Eleven retaliated by assaulting Angela in the face with a roller skate. However, she is not as cruel as Two, who threatened to kill El while Angela merely pushed her and insulted her. It is also shown that Angela does get her comeuppance when Ms. Gracy busts her for bullying El and El later hitting Angela with her with her roller skate.
Trivia[]
- Angela is practically an antithesis of 2 from the Flashbacks. They both bullied Eleven but Two is much worse, as he threatened to kill her when Angela merely just bullies Eleven mentally and less physically.
- Angela is fairly similar to Carol Perkins: they are both popular girls in school and take pleasure in bullying their classmates (Nancy and El).
- Angela was possibly inspired by Stephen King's Carrie character Chris Hargensen as they like bullying the protagonist who happens to possess telekinetic powers (Angela tormenting Eleven and Chris tormenting Carrie White).
- Angela also vaguely parallels Two, who has bullied El and would later receive punishment. However, the only difference between the two was Angela got injured by El directly and got to go the hospital after El finally stood up to her while Two was murdered by One where El never got a chance to stand up to him before his death.
- Despite Angela suffering from a concussion and Eleven feeling guilty about it shortly after, some fans actually believe that Angela deserved to get a comeuppance but some can agree that hitting her with a rollar skate was too much.
- Angela and Jake are the second couple on the show to be bullies; the first being Tommy H and Carol Perkins.
- Angela is the third person on the show to make fun of someone else's death, as she did the same to eleven and mocked her for her father's death (However, unbeknownst to them, Jim was still alive.)
- The first was Troy Walsh, who mocked Will's best friends, Mike, Lucas and Dustin about Will's apparent demise.
- The second was Larry Cline who mocked Hopper for his daughter, Sara's death.
