The Ancient One was the Sorcerer Supreme as well as the leader of the Masters of the Mystic Arts and the tritagonist of Doctor Strange. She was the mentor of Doctor Strange and keeper of the Eye of Agomotto, which contained the Time Stone.
In the comics the ancient one is an Asian man and a monk.
