General Amaya (also known as Queen Amaya) is one of the main characters of the animated Netflix drama fantasy series, The Dragon Prince. She is the leader and general of the Standing Batallion, the younger sister of the late Queen Sarai, the maternal aunt of Prince Callum and King Ezran, the wife of Queen Janai, the sister-in-law of the late Damian, the late King Harrow, the late Queen Khessa and Prince Karim and the queen consort of Lux Aurea. She is also the great-granddaughter-in-law of Queen Aditi.

Being born deaf, Amaya communicates by sign language. After her sister's death and the King's assassination, Amaya has promised to protect her sister's children, becoming a maternal figure for them both.

Two years later, she began a romantic relationship with the Elven Queen, Janai and became engaged. Unfortunately, others saw this as a message that Elves and Humans would permanently live together. She later assisted Team Zym in their quest to prevent the liberation of Aaravos. However, Amaya would be forced to aid her wife against her brother, who felt she was unfit to rule.

History

Book 1: Moon

Eventually learning that her brother-in-law, Harrow was assasinated, Amaya and Gren rush towards the palace and stop Viren's coronation, where Amaya announces that the princes are still alive. She later calls Viren out on his bed to grasp for power before she goes to her sister's grave, apologizing to Sarah that she failed to protect her son's. Viren soon appears next to Amaya, who welcomed him to join her. A few moments later Amaya announced that she was going to return to the border but she was sending Gren over to find Callum and Ezran instead of Claudia and Soren. Before she left, she told Gren not to trust Viren or Soren and Claudia.

Trivia

• Amaya loves both her nephews but appears to be closer to Callum.
• In addition to being a general Amaya could be a princess as well when her sister married the king. This is similar to Crystal, who became a princess of the Inhumans upon her sister, Medusa marrying Black bolt.
  • Additionally, she is considered Queen consort upon her marriage to Janai.
