Biography[]
We Visit the Garden Emporium[]
Hades sped up Alecto's healing process in Tartarus and allowed her to continue the hunt for Percy. Once again in the form of Mrs Dodds, she and one of her sisters track down Percy, Annabeth and Grover at the bus station. As she sits on the bus next door, Annabeth in her invisibility cap, approaches the old woman and demands for them to leave her and her friends alone. Alecto answered by stating that she remembers Annabeth at the frightened Little girl from all those years ago and as she mocks Annabeth for her failure to save Thalia, Alecto isn't questioning Hades' commands. Furthermore, she appeals to Annabeth's Hubris, arguing that Percy will be a hindrance to the quest, and offers to help Annabeth if she betrays Percy and lets Alecto take him to Hades. However, the young girl refuses and tries to escape with her companions. During the fight on the bus, Annabeth kills Tisiphone and the trio flee. Alecto tracks them all the way to Auntie Em's Garden Emporium but she quickly uses her wings to cover her eyes when Medusa appears. The woman offers Percy, Annabeth and Grover's sanctuary in her garden Emporium so Alecto doesn't come after them. After Percy kills Medusa, he uses the gorgon's head and as Alecto goes to attack him, Percy tricks her into looking into the Medusa's eyes and turning her to stone.
Personality[]
Alecto is stern, no-nonsense, and sadistic, both as a math teacher and as a lieutenant of Hades. She takes her mission very seriously and does not question her master's orders. The only thing she is known to be afraid of is Medusa. She also takes pleasure in mocking Annabeth over her failure to save Thalia, who she and her sisters hunted down because she was a forbidden child.
Abilities and Tools[]
- Flight: Like her sisters, Alecto can fly with her bat-like wings.
- Immortality: Like all monsters, Alecto does not age, and while she can be killed, her body will re-form from dust and she will return to the world. As one of Hades's most important assets, it is likely the god of the dead sped up her regeneration process so she could continue her pursuit of Percy Jackson.
- Telepathy: Alecto "speaks" in Percy's mind when confronting him at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
