~ Harry Potter and Percy Weasley discussing Dumbledore |
Albus Dumbledore is the overarching protagonist of the Wizarding World franchise. He was a half blood talented wizard. He was the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, later the Transfiguration Professor, and later the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He also served as Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards (?–1995) and Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot (?–1995; 1996–1997). A Muggle-supporting wizard, though the absolute opposite in his earlier years, he was considered to have been the greatest wizard of modern times.
In the first two film adaptations, Dumbledore was portrayed by Richard Harris, Michael Gambon in the rest of the series and Jude Law in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them trilogy.
Background
Albus was the first-born son of Kenra and Percival Dumbledore. His younger siblings included a brother, Aberforth and a younger sister, Ariana. At age eighteen, Dumbledore met Gellert Grindelwald. They both created a blood pact to never fight one another, both appearing unbreakable.
However, his younger sister, Ariana, was killed in a three-way-duel between Albus and Aberforth and Gellert Grindelwald. Unaware of which spell killed her, Grindelwald fled the scene, which haunted Albus in his older years.
