Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody is a character in the Harry Potter book series and the film franchise, debuting at the end of the fourth installment, The Goblet of Fire. In the series, Moody became one of the most famous Aurors of his age, capturing many villainous witches and wizards in his time. In the First and Second Wizarding Wars, he was a member of the Order of the Phoenix founded by Albus Dumbledore and an ally of Harry Potter.

In his debut appearance, Alastor Moody doesn't appear until the end of the fourth book and the film adaptation, due to him being impersonated by Barty crouch Jr in the entire story.
In the book version of The Order of the Phoenix, Moody gave Harry the picture that had his parents James and Lily as well as the first incarnation of the Order of the Phoenix and explained who each of the members were. However, it was changed to Sirius in the film adaptation of the fifth film for unknown reasons.
