Personality[]

Alan Blunt does anything to keep the greater good in the balance, and recruiting Alex to MI6; he does this by threaten to have Jack Starbright deported after Alex refuses to help them infiltrate Point Blanc in the first season. When visiting Parker Roscoe, Blunt remained calm and in control of the situation but was alarmed by Michael's death and Parker's change in behavior. However, the difference between Alan's book and TV counterparts is this version does show concern for Alex's well-being. In the second season Blunt tries getting Alex to throw his investigation of Damian Cray and is even dismissive of the young man in spite of Alex being right and Mrs. Jones and Smithers advocating for the child to get back into the spy game.

Unfortunately, this situation has its own consequences. By the end of Season 2, Alex Rider no longer trusts Blunt because Blunt lied to him about Yassen being nowhere near London and the need for his warning regarding Damian Cray. Alex's distrust intensified when Yassen Gregorovich admitted to Rider that he and Alex's father John, were friends and revealed their history with SCORPIA. Alex even misled Blunt about Yassen's last words to him. Subsequently, both Jo Byrne and Tulip Jones accused Blunt of being a liar and of purposefully endangering Alex's life.

In Season 3, Blunt had become relentless in his own goals, and somewhat more cautious. Although Blunt wouldn't admit it, he recognized some truth in what Jones was saying and likely felt remorse for how he had treated Alex. Blunt's own lack of trust in Alex Rider almost sent Alex down a dark path by killing his former handler Mrs. Jones, but he stopped himself from doing so. Despite Tulip Jones calling Blunt out on his stupidity, Alan tries keeping it cool but deep down knows he tramautized Alex and gave him enough reason to not trust him anymore. However, Blunt was convinced by Jones to treat Alex like an equal and a colleague rather than a mere child. Blunt honored his agreement and finally showed Alex the true circumstances of his father's fake death, leading the teen to finally reconcile with his allies within MI6 and helping them stop SCORPIA once and for all.
