Aithusa is a minor character in the BBC series Merlin.
They are a white dragon hatched by Merlin and later, owned by Morgana Pendragon.

- Dragon Breath: Aithusa is capable of breathing fire. They were Also able to use their dragon breath to heal a dying Morgana. They are also capable of forging mortal weapons into magical instruments, which is why they were able to enhance Mordred's sword for the upcoming battle of Campannagainst Arthur battle of Camlann

The young dragon met Morgana when she was mortally wounded by a Knights of Camelot after she was dethroned by her half brother for the second time. The tiny dragon saved her life when they healed her with their dragon breath.
Without her sister or Agravaine to confide in, and her closest friend Mordred betraying her at the moment, Aithusa was the only creature who Morgana had left and the only one she would show affection for. She was very protective of the young dragon. When she and Aithusa were prisoners of the Sarrum for two years, the dragon grew in size and the pit they were trapped in became smaller, crippling Aithusa. The dragon would cry in pain and Morgana as well because, according to the Sarrum, Morgana's screams were more heartbreaking than the creature.
Despite her care for the creature, Morgan treated the creature to be more like a pet than a companion.
Trivia[]
- The gender of Aithusa has always been shrouded in mystery: Kilgharrah referred to Aithusa as a "he" when Merlin hatched it. However, according to Katie McGrath, she thought the dragon was female in her mind.
- The Young Dragon is the only creature who Morgana cares about.
