Aeon the Terrible is the (former) main antagonist of Rankin/Bass's 1976 stop motion special Rudolph's Shiny New Year (the sequel to the 1964 film). He is a giant talking vulture who could live for one eon and when it was up, he would turn into ice and snow. This motivated him to capture Happy, the new Baby New Year and prevent him from dying.

Rudolph's Shiny New Year[]
Aeon’s past is unknown, but according to Father Time, he spent countless ages scaring people passing through the Sands of Timeline. He lives on the Island of No-Name: a giant iceberg near the north pole, where the sun never shines. He spent ages terrorizing those who lived in the Sands of Time: a desert near Father Time's castle.As the Great Quarter Past Five explains to Rudolph, Aeon, as his name implies, lived for nearly an eon and will with to ICE and snow because of the upcoming New Year. When the Baby New Year runs away from home after mistaking people for making fun of his big ears, Aeon hunts down the baby.
Hoping to escape his impending doom, Aeon swears to find Baby New Year, hoping that keeping Happy hostage will prevent the New Year. Rudolph encounters the vulture in the Sands of Time, where Aeon mocks the young reindeer that he will find Happy before he can. Aeon later confronted Rudolph at the Archipelago of Last Years. However, as Aeon attacks Rudolph, Big Ben scares off Aeon, who flies away. where he is getting a lift from Big Ben, who has been signed by father time to assist and protect Rudolph on his journey. As Aeon continues to taint the heroes, Big Ben protects Rudolph and Scares Alon away but not before swearing to find Baby New Year before Rudolph does. Aeon eventually does do as he swears and it takes baby Happy to the Island of No Name. However, Rudolph and his friends follow to the Island, where Rudolph finally meets Happy and tells him he understands what he is going through.
However upon seeing Happy's ears, due to Rudolph's insistence that Happy should reveal who he is, Aeon starts laughing. Rudolph predicts that Aeon's warm laughters will melt his cold heart and prevent him from turning to snow.
