Abu is one of the main characters of the Disney film, Aladdin and the entire franchise. He is Aladdin's pet monkey and best friend.
Background[]
Abu was once a pet to three thieves, Aziz, Minos, and Fatima who all treated him poorly despite his best efforts at stealing. Aladdin decided to be part of the group of thieves after seeing how mistreated Abu. Was. They later became best friends and decided to only to steal to survive.
Personality[]
Abu is a playful monkey who is very loyal to his friends, including Aladdin. At first, he disliked Aladdin's romance for Jasmine, but eventually came to respect her.
Abu was also very sneaky, as he was able to steal things without people noticing (unless you were Aladdin). feisty, loyal, and good-hearted, and often energetic. However, he sometimes steals from other people, a habit he cannot seem to get rid of. For instance, he can be greedy sometime, by wanting a jeweled flower that Aladdin gave Jasmine and Rajah stopped him from taking it. However, in the end, Abu does the right thing in the end. For instance, when Iago was trying to get Abu to steal, he eventually learns what they're doing is wrong and refused to do anything about it.
Appearance: Abu is a small monkey with brown fur, and a tan face and ears. He wears a small fez that was once a large turban, but Aladdin made it smaller. It was blue, red and gold. He is also bare-foot and wears a vest similar to Aladdin.

- Abu's name means "elephant" in Ancient Egyptian. He was ironically turned into an Elephant.
