Abel Rivera is one of the minor characters in the 2017 film, Coco. He is the eldest child and son of Berto Rivera and his wife, Carmen, the brother of Rosa, Benny and Manny Rivera, nephew of Enrique and Berto Rivera, and a cousin of Miguel and Socorro Rivera.
Background[]
Abel teases his siblings and his younger cousin, Miguel about joining the talent show, joking that Miguel would be polishing shoes if he joined.
Abel later learned through Miguel and his great-grandmother, Coco, that their great-great-grandfather had been murdered by Ernesto de la Cruz. At the end of the film, he is seen playing the accordion and singing "Proud Corazon."
Personality[]
Abel has a goofy, humorous demeanor and enjoys fútbol (soccer). He is a good shoemaker, but his tendency to get easily distracted means his shoes often get stuck in the ceiling when buffing them.
He is nineteen years old during Coco.
